American Protest Films

The United States has an exceptionally rich tradition of protest films. Both a thriving film industry and a broader culture of protest—also expressed in many other art forms—helped make that tradition possible. Subjects such as the Vietnam War, race, and social inequality offered an almost inexhaustible source of inspiration.

As part of Woodstock aan de Waal, LUX Film and Debate will screen a selection of notable and thought-provoking protest films.

The selections will be announced in September.
